Spring Break in Korea Day 8 (4 April 2015)

After non-stop touring for the whole week, it was time to sit back and relax.  Our friends left for airport quite early around 8am. As we were waving bye to them and wishing them safe flight, we felt like we were sending off our house guests!  Haha :D

After they left, we packed our bags, cleaned up our cozy AirBnB apartment, made sure nothing is left behind then called our landlord to let him know we were ready to leave and to thank him.  He called taxi for us so that we could move to a smaller apartment right behind Seoul Station.  There was not much traffic around 11 am and we spent just 10,000 Won on taxi fare.

Well, we booked this new place via AirBnB as well. Although it was not as cozy as Yeongdeungpo apartment, its location was superb! This apartment is located just 3-4 minutes walk away from Exit 4 of Seoul Station.  Not only it is convenient to get to other parts of Seoul with subway, it was extremely easy to go to Incheon Airport with train since Exit 4 is the closest exit to AREX (Airport Railroad Express).

My sister was supposed to join us around 12 noon at our new place but she was held back because the bus from her Songdo campus to Seoul downtown area was late by an hour.  So we decided to grab lunch while waiting for her and headed to Lotte Supermarket next to Seoul Station.  Our initial plan was to eat at food court next to Lotte Supermarket but we passed by Bennigan's and saw their burger set advertisement for just 11,000 Won ++.  We love Korean food, but we still needed a change after a whole week of enjoying Korean delicacies.

So yes, burgers for lunch! If you have never heard of Bennigan's, it is a casual American restaurant, founded since 1976.  I had never tried it before and I'm not exactly big fan of burgers but I was so glad we decided to have lunch there.

Bread, beef patty, spicy sauce, and fries – yes FRIES seasoned with sea salt – they all tasted amazing!  I mean fries are so common but it is indeed rare to see restaurants excelling it preparing fries. The only other burgers & fries I love were from celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay's Pub & Grill at Las Vegas.

By the time we were done with lunch, it was 2pm and my sister still had not reached. So we went to Lotte Supermarket to stock up on drinking water, banana milk (for me), coffee (for Mister & my sister), dumplings, strawberries, oranges and other snacks.  My sister was really shocked that we bought so many! I'm sure we all thanked our lucky stars that our new apartment is located so close to Seoul Station, otherwise we would not have made it back with our heavy load. Phew!

We were so exhausted and 3 lazy butts just chilled through the afternoon till about 6pm, when we left our place to meet a friend for dinner. Dinner was at Kongbul in Hongdae. From Hongik University Station on Line 2, head to exit 8 and follow walking directions found here in my previous post:

Kongbul is a combination of pork, beansprouts, cheese, noodles, ricecake, seaweed, rice which are grilled together in a large pan with red pepper paste.

It was still early after dinner and we were not ready to call it a night yet. Thus, we found ourselves in Persia Land – a basement bar in Hongdae (just fewer than 10 stores away from Kongbul) which served cocktails as well as shisha! We were blessed with a cozy corner filled with floor cushions with hookah / shisha in the middle (yes, we sat on the floor).

And that’s how we spent our Saturday in Seoul – just eat, sleep, buy food, do shisha and be merry!

Adios!
Xoxo
