Korean Shows on Netflix 2020

While COVID-19 has affected several businesses negatively, streaming entertainment companies are one of the few who have benefited for this global pandemic.  While millions are affected by stay-home orders and lock-downs, we turned to service providers like Netflix to relieve our boredom.

From the Hollywood-oriented series, firms like Netflix are striving to improve their range of product offerings. I am definitely glad to see more Asian dramas available on Netflix, which means we international fans no longer have to scower the Internet, searching high and low for the English subbed videos or suffer the restless wait for subbed videos to be released.

Food for Thought 5 [Hallyu Wave - from a Fan's perspective]

[Disclaimer: all images used in this post are obtained from Google image search.  None of these are my own.  For my personal encounter with stars and respective filming location visits, I will upload my own photos in another post.]

Once we mention the word "Hallyu Wave", many of us already knows its meaning - Korean Wave - the increase in global popularity of South Korean culture through performing arts such as drama, movie and music. There has been many researches and articles already written on this phenomenon since its such an unexpected development with the potential to challenge the monopoly dominance that Hollywood was enjoying in the entertainment industry, at least in Asia.

BUT I wouldn't bore you with all these academic arguments. Instead, I will be reminiscing about my love affair with the Korean entertainment. I am actually surprised and glad to have witnessed the beginning of Hallyu Wave myself.

Spring Break in Korea Day 14 (10 April 2015) - Part II

The bus promptly dropped us off back at Seoul Station around noon and we walked back to our flat  for lunch. We went overboard buying food the previous night and didn’t even get around to tasting beef rib soup and rice ball.  With fresh Korean strawberries, Starbucks coffee and black bean milk, they made for an appetising lunch.

Afterwards, we headed out to Yeouido Park for Seoul cherry blossom festival.  If you are armed with a great DSLR camera, you can also go there at night to enjoy over 1000 cheery trees lighted up to create a romantic ambience. After visiting both Yeouido area and Jinhae, I prefer Jinhae cherry festival though.  Nonetheless, Seoul has many places for you to catch these lovely flowers during their fleeting blossom season. For instance, at Namsan Mountain, the view of cherry trees must be stunning with N-Seoul Tower in the backdrop.

How to get there: Yeouinaru Station, Line 5, Exit 1 OR
National Assembly Station, Line 9, Exit 1 or 6

Spring Break in Korea Day 14 (10 April 2015) - Part I

SO EXCITED TO BE VISITING THE FILMING SET!!! Its not just any set, its THE set used in My Love From Another Star!! Remember the mysterious alien Do Min Joon & adorable actress Cheon Song Yi? That was definitely my favorite drama in 2014.  I even shared about it to Mister, friends and colleagues and they became fans too. Can you feel my excitement? I just couldn't stand still :D

A Journey to the K land! Day 2 - 3 Feb 2013

We left our place around 830am as we wanted to reach the boarding point of Nami Island Shuttle bus by 910am. Jongno-3-ga was just 2 stations away from Euljiro-1-ga but Seoul subway stations are so big and we had to walk a lot. That was why we decided to leave early. And luckily, we left early.  We reached the bus at 9:10 am on the dot! Well, the bus would leave at 9:30 am but we had not paid for our tickets yet. So if there were a lot of people, the bus driver would give priority to those who had paid for their tickets followed by those who reached first. And that's the reason why we wanted to reach early.
