Travelling.
Travelling leaves you speechless. Then turn you into a storyteller. Hope I have been a good one ^.^

Our 1 Month Journey in the Land of Liberty - USA Trip Itinerary

We have been planning this trip for an extremely long time!  Since both of us had never been on a month long holiday, just imagine how giddy we must had been :D  I was in between jobs and he had just completed his undergraduate studies so the timing was perfect!

Departure from Singapore - 4 Sep 2014
Arrival back to Singapore - 5 Oct 2014
Total duration of the trip - 32 days
On the road / Travel days - 3 days
West Coast - 18 days (7 cities)
East Coast - 11 days (4 cities)

After reading many reviews and conducting several research, we had finally narrowed it down to 11 cities from my original list of 21! Phew... it was such a difficult process, having to eliminate interesting places due to time constraint.  Honestly, it was impossible to cover such a huge country in one visit.  We didn't want to do "touch-and-go" either. What was the point of travelling if you couldn't really enjoy what the place has to offer? So, it was really better to prioritise what we wanted to see now and what we could leave to see later in the future.  We also needed to spend quite a lot of time in San Francisco since thats where the family was living.

So, here is the brief summary:

04 Sep 2014                           Travel date, Arrival from Singapore
05 Sep 2014 - 09 Sep 2014   San Francisco (+ day trip to Napa Valley)
10 Sep 2014 - 12 Sep 2014   Seattle
13 Sep 2014 - 15 Sep 2014   Las Vegas (+ day trip to Grand Canyon)
16 Sep 2014 - 21 Sep 2014   Los Angeles (+ day trips to Disney Land, Palm Spring, Santa Barbara)
22 Sep 2014 - 23 Sep 2014   Boston
24 Sep 2014 - 28 Sep 2014   New York City
29 Sep 2014 - 30 Sep 2014   Philadelphia
01 Oct 2014 - 02 Oct 2014    Washington DC
03 Oct 2014                           San Francisco
04 Oct 2014 - 05 Oct 2014    Travel date, Back to Singapore

Since the flight duration between East Coast and West Coast takes around 6 hours, try to book red-eye overnight flights to save on accommodation. Other than that, we tried to book early morning trains, buses or flights so that by the time we arrive in a new location, we would be able to check in to our accommodation.  Another reason was safety.  As soon as we reach a new city, we would be quite unfamiliar with it and were prone to get lost or worse, robbed.  So it was better to arrive in a new environment in a broad daylight. Of course, there were a few exceptions to morning travelling, as you would find in my subsequent posts.

So stay tuned and bye bye for now!

Adios!
xoxo
