NUS Gang in Cameron Highlands Day 2 (27 July 2014)

Although our hardworking friend had left around 6am to hike the Gunung Brinchang, the lazy us had a leisurely breakfast for a whole hour till 930am. The plan was for us to drive to the peak and meet our friend before continuing our sightseeing for the day which would cover Mossy Forest, BOH Tea Plantation, Time Tunnel Museum & Rose Centre, before ending the day with steamboat buffet.

HAHA :D

International Buffet Breakfast at Strawberry Park Resort

Breakfast with a view of lush greenery

While waiting for everyone to be ready, utilize the time wisely by taking selfies / wefies XD

Compared to our friend who chose to hike the mountain, we thought we had it easy. Oh boy, how wrong we were! We were on the main road only for about 4km before having to turn into a narrow & rough road (just wide enough for 1.5 cars and it was a two-way road!!!) with some steep ascends. We constantly had to negotiate the space whenever there was an incoming traffic from the opposite direction. There was still one more task to conquer 3km of ridgetop driving before finally reaching the peak. A major phew for all of us and especially for Mister who wasn't used to driving on rough narrow lanes.
Along the way, we were rewarded with this marvelous view of undulating hills, covered in the greenest carpet we have ever seen!

Wefie Time!

According to my friends, this unsteady-looking watchtower at the peak offers stunning view covering towns, valleys and forests, stretching across the horizon.

Misty afternoon

On our way back from the peak, our friend took over driving duties. The next stop on the itinerary was Mossy Forest.  With the cooling climate, it was quite a joy to walk in the forest. However, the steps could be pretty slippery at certain places so you gotta be careful!

Beautiful!

It was already 1pm when we stopped by at BOH tea plantation - the largest one in Malaysia. We snapped a couple of photos near the entrance before continuing onto the car park.  Cafe is located about 15 min walk away from the car park and you really have to climb lots of steps. We were starving by then and immediately headed to the cafe, just to be faced with 3 major disappointments.  First, there was no proper meal on the menu (not even laksa or nasi lemak!) and second, there was a snaking queue.  Last but not least, all the tables were occupied!!! grhhhhhh

After queuing for at least 30 minutes, we were blessed with mushroom soup, sausage rolls, chocolate rolls, carrot cake, strawberry cheese cake and assorted tea.  FINALLY. Lunch at 215pm! Food was just so-so, definitely not worth lining up for half an hour.  It wasn't cheap either - it set us back for about 135 Ringgit! However, the wonderful view made up for it.  I was absolutely enamored with the rolling hills of tea plantations.

My hair is serious need of treatment :(

Due to the lack of time, we chose to skip the Time Tunnel Museum (located between Equatorial Hotel & Brinchang). If you are interested, entrance fees is 5 Ringgit per person. Items on display (old dentist chair, antique barber chair, vintage telephones, several household items from days of the past) would definitely bring you back in time and have you reminiscing about the good old days.

Instead, we went to Rose Center, which opens daily till 6pm. Entrance fees was 5 Ringgit per adult. There were diverse varieties of roses there so if you are a fan, you should give it a try.  I wasn't that impressed though.  Probably it was the hot weather, combined with many steps, which made our visit unenjoyable. We were quite puzzled with that sudden change in weather as it was already late in the afternoon (4-5pm) and the temperatures had been pretty agreeable so far.

After climbing a few levels of terrace

We left Rose Center at 5pm and shopped local produce at the nearby market for over an hour.

He is worn out too

Potted plants there were so beautiful and reasonably priced. If only I could bring them back with me :(

Dinner time! It wasn't a buffet steamboat, but it was sooooo worth it.  We stuffed ourselves silly till we couldn't move and the bill was only 179 Ringgit!

Here is the name of the steamboat place if you want to try. It's very near Rose Center.

Look at all these vege we bought!

We were tired but still not ready to call it a day so a card game it is!

Adios!
xoxo
