USA Trip Day 14 - 17 Sep 2014 - Happiest Place on Earth

WE ARE VISITING THE HAPPIEST PLACE ON EARTH!!!!!!!!!!!!

CAN YOU IMAGINE MY EXCITEMENT??!!!

I KNOW I'M TOO OLD FOR THIS BUT HEY, ITS DISNEYLAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:D :D :D

Opened on 17 July 1955, Anaheim Disneyland is the only theme-park designed and built under the direct supervision of Walk Disney. Disneyland has a larger cumulative attendance than any other theme-park in the world, with over 650 million guests since its opening.

Even after we reached LA, we still had not figured out a way to get to Disney which was about an hour drive away from LA.  I have never felt so unprepared haha :D

We found out that there was no direct public transport to the theme-park. There were shuttle buses though.  They leave the parks around 730pm to 830pm and we felt that was too early.  We were there on a Wednesday so the hours are 10am-8pm for non-resident guests. 8pm closing time means we could only get out after 8pm and didn't want to risk missing the bus.  Also, we already had to pay so much to enjoy ourselves at the happiest place on earth so we didn't intend to rush through the experience.  Staying till the end was the plan.

Our next choice was to drive there. Hertz was offering pretty good deals. A day rental would cost us less than 2 shuttle bus tickets. Plus, there was flexibility. Pick-up location was near our hotel at LA's Union Station. So here we go!

Beautiful Union Station

With the intention of reaching the park by 10 o'clock sharp, we left hotel at 8am to pick up the car. We thought we were pretty on time since we reached Hertz at 8:15am.  Oh dear, we wasted quite a while because we found out our car has less than a quarter of fuel left and had to go back to the rental counter to let them know. Then we had to drive around the station looking for a gas station.

We were finally on the freeway at 9am and reached Anaheim area around 10am.  Before we breathed a sigh of relief, we were stuck again because we couldn't find parking lot. The signs were a bit confusing for a first-time visitor. We tried parking at the resorts near the main entrance as well but there was no available lot.  So we drove out again and followed the signs for parking lot. Phew, we found it this time.  But the parking building was quite far from the park itself that we had to take a free shuttle bus there. It was already 10:45am T.T

Anyway, we were finally here, roaring to start our day!!!!!

Boys & their superheros :D

Performers in the New Orleans Square

Unlike Universal Studios in Singapore, Disneyland normal ticket also entitles you to get Fast Pass. Only 1 at a time though. You can get another Fast Pass after a certain time.

I was pretty happy to be able to high 5 Winnie the Pooh, but I guess the lady beside me won hands down :D

A drop of honey, anyone?

Our visit to the park was just a few weeks before Halloween so the Haunted Mansion was one of the more popular attractions at that time.  But no thanks, from me & my timid heart.

Thankful for this wonderful one-month vacation

The first Disney movie I ever watched was Snow White

However, the first Disney tape my parents bought for us and I watched repeatedly was Cinderella!

I know I was no longer a target audience of Disney when Frozen was released. But who cares. Let It GO!

One shall not miss Parades when one is visiting theme-park.
Its just a fitting finale to your happy day.

Byeeeeeee

But a cup of Starbucks first to wake up my trusted driver :D

Look, souvenir store employee presented me with a first timer badge!

And that's a wrap!

This cost breakdown is just FYI:

Car Rental (including gas) ~ US$ 95.00 from Hertz
Parking - US$ 17.00 for whole day
Park Ticket - US$ 194.00 for 2 adult day passes
Mickey Headbands ~ US$ 30.00 for 2 pcs
