USA Trip Day 5 - 8 Sep 2014 - Chinatown

Today was a very relaxing day for us to spend some time with Mister's grandma. The morning however was spent, wandering aimlessly round Chinatown, weaving among throngs of locals and tourists, purchasing beautiful postcards and savoring the appetizing Chinese treats.

An imposing Chinatown Gate at the beginning of Grant Avenue marked the area popular with tourists.

Another landmark was the old St. Mary Cathedral built in 1854 with granite imported from China.

Since the 1906 earthquake destroyed the original cathedral, a new one was rebuilt in 1909.

A visit to Chinatown is not complete without stopping by the Golden Gate Bakery (Address: 1029 Grant Avenue) to enjoy their savory confections and oriental treats.

This entire neighborhood is littered with guesthouses, eateries, banks, as well as antiques and souvenir shops.

After a pleasant stroll in Chinatown, we picked up grandma and headed to Koi Palace for dim sum lunch.

Koi Palace Address: 365 Gellert Blvd, Daly City, CA 94015

It was definitely a more posh place than the All Season restaurant we patronized the other day.  However, quality of food was similar and yet, the prices were definitely more expensive.  Nonetheless, it was a satisfying meal with a great ambiance (:

After lunch, we headed back home for a leisurely afternoon with grandma!

Adios!
xoxo
