USA Trip Day 3 - 6 Sep 2014 - Alemany Farmers' Market & Twin Peaks

Wow Uncle is a great cook! Now I know where Mister inherits his culinary skills from :D Just look at the breakfast plate he prepared for us.  Fancy home-cooked meal!

Ready to go! By the way, don't those homes look too cute?

Alemany Farmers' Market

Address: 100 Alemany Blvd, San Francisco, CA 94110

Opening Hours: Every Saturday from dawn to dusk (It is better to go early, possibly before noon, so you can pick the freshest flowers, fruits and vegetables!)

Founded on 12 August 1943, Alemany was the first Farmers' Market in California. Although the initial intent was a wartime measure to provide an outlet for surplus crops, it is now one of the 520 certified farmers' market in California. More than 70 years later, the market is still flourishing with the latest lifestyle drive to eat healthily, especially with fresh, organic produce.

Make sure to enjoy snacks from all these food trucks! Nom Nom!

Dim Sum Lunch @ All Season Restaurant

We browsed at the market for over an hour before leaving around 11:30 am. Since we had Western style dinner last night and breakfast this morning, Uncle brought us to a famous dim sum restaurant in San Francisco. I was so touched that he tried to be considerate about my preference of Asian cuisine!

Address: 5238 Diamond Heights Blvd, San Francisco, CA 94131

Opening Hours:
10:30am - 2:30pm & 5:00pm - 9:30pm (Mon, Tue, Wed, Fri)
5:00pm - 9:30pm (Thu)
10:00am - 9:30pm (Sat, Sun)

All Season is located on the second floor of the building with pharmacy on the first floor. The restaurant was located in a compound with a cluster of other shops (such as Safeway, Walgreens) and there were ample parking lots available.

A small kiosk was set up on the first floor for takeaway orders. Uncle said there would typically be a long line for a table.  Lucky for us, there were only 1 group in front of us when we reached around 1pm.

While the service was of a typical standard by a dim sum restaurant (the wait staff would always be in a hurry while pushing their carts), I would say dim sum tasted pretty amazing.  I have had great dim sum in both Singapore and Hong Kong and All Season's version could be considered above average!  The bill for 3 of us including tip was just 40 USD and trust me, we ordered a lot that we had to pack extra food to go.

This is the typical to-go box :D

Twin Peaks

Address: 501 Twin Peaks Blvd, San Francisco, CA 94114

Opening Hours: 5:00 am - Midnight

At 922 feet, Twin Peaks is the excellent location to enjoy aerial view of the bay area, on a clear blue sky day.  Fabulous view of the city. Stunning sight of the skyline. I absolutely recommend dropping by this place if you are in San Francisco area.  If you only have time for just one place to do sightseeing, this has to be it.  You should probably set aside about an hour to explore both peaks and enjoy 360-degree panoramic view of the bay area, if time permits.

Remember to dress warmly in anticipation of strong wind. You might need to drive to join a tour bus as it is not exactly accessible via public transportation. And just pray for a perfect weather since foggy conditions will just defeat the purpose of the visit as all you see around you will be fog.

Adios!
xoxo
