Mr & Missy in Myanmar

Have you guys read the news that Myanmar will be named as the World's Best Tourist Destination for 2014 by EU?

Wow that's absolutely wow! Of course, I'm proud hehe :D Myanmar is a place like no other.  Many of us would feel like we have traveled back in time as there is no such thing as red-and-yellow Ronald Mcdonald or 7-Eleven. It would also liberate us from our dependence on technology since roaming is available for very limited foreign phone lines and the Internet is soooooo slow! BUT there would be many things to occupy your time - relaxing on the white sand beaches of Ngwe Saung / Ngapali, exploring the ruins of Bagan / Mrauk Oo, hiking the snow-capped mountains in Northern Myanmar to interacting with the gentle & friendly locals.

So to entice you guys further to visit this country, let me share about our recent trip. During our 2012 trip, we visited Central Myanmar - Mandalay, Pyin Oo Lwin, Bagan & Popa. So this time, we explored Eastern Myanmar - Shan State.

The best thing about this trip was the cooling weather! Most of the Shan state is hilly with several mountains. So in December, it was really cooling with temperatures dropping below 5C at night and early mornings. Not only it was a great escape from sunny Singapore, it also allowed us to remain energetic throughout the day! Plus, I get to wear my winter clothing! :D

More posts on our Myanmar trip coming soon. Stay tuned!

Adios!
xoxo
