My Favorite List (food in Singapore) - Part II

Part II as promised :D

This is slightly different from Part I in terms of organization. This one is arranged based on the type of meal, depending on ambiance and signature items that these places are known for.

Late breakfast / Brunch
Prive Cafe @ Keppel Island

Address: 2 Keppel Bay Vista, Singapore 098382
Nearest MRT: Harborfront (on the purple line & yellow line)
Price: SGD 20 ++
Remark: The cafe opens at 9am, just nice for a late breakfast :D

Why I love it: This place is so close to town area yet it makes you feel like you are on holiday at a tropical paradise.  Look around you.  Clear blue sky, turquoise water and white yachts soothe your tired soul. The pace of life slows down and it allows you to recharge your batteries. Just 5 min cab ride away from Vivo City / Harbourfront MRT. Not a bad deal huh?  The food is just so-so though, nothing spectacular.

Lunch
Kombi Rocks

Address: 66 Yio Chu Kang Road, Singapore 545568
Nearest MRT: Serangoon (on the purple line & yellow line)
Price: SGD 15 ++
Remark: This place is quite small so you must remember to make reservations!

Why I love it: Such a beautiful beautiful place! So vintage. So retro. So unique. So enchanting. okay, I'll stop but you cannot miss this place! Especially if you love VW & Kombi.  It doesn't hurt that their "minced pork with basil leaves" tastes great too!

Tea
House @ Dempsey

Address: 8D Dempsey Road, Singapore 249672
Nearest MRT: Commonwealth (on the green line) (This is the nearest MRT distance-wise.  However, its not near enough to walk from MRT without breaking a sweat. So either take bus and walk up the hill or take a cab.  If you meet your friends at MRT and share a cab together, it would set you back about 2 bucks per pax? It would even be cheaper without any peak surcharge. So really, if you don't drive, taxi is the best option to explore this area.)
Price: SGD 15 ++ (considering you are there for just cakes and coffee / tea)
Remark: There is vintage hi-tea party buffet every Thurs & Fri from 3:00 pm - 5:30 pm at SGD 30 ++ per adult. Come dressed in a vintage style and you enjoy 10% off!

Why I love it: Honestly, when I eat out, ambiance is so important to me.  I don't want to spend money to just eat at chain restaurants inside shopping centers. There isn't much character or uniqueness, you know? Especially for tea. You are there to take a breather from your hectic daily life. You are there to catch up with loved ones. You are there to enjoy a "me" time. It's important to make you feel relaxed and chill. House just does that with its vintage setting and lush green surroundings. Unfortunately, there is no more "caramel popcorn" cake - my all time favorite cake T.T

Dinner
Stellar @ 1-Altitude

Address: Former OUB Center, 1 Raffles Place, Singapore 048616
Nearest MRT: Raffles Place (on the red line & green line)
Price: SGD 60 ++
Remark: Make sure you dress to the nines before stepping foot inside this posh dining place.  Remember - no flip flops, slippers, shorts, Bermudas.

Why I love it: The View of course! And the service! I know I know. For the kind of price we are paying, we would expect top-notched service. However, the waiters there are just so nice and friendly. Even when they were reminding us that we could enjoy the window table for just 2 hours, they were so polite about it. And their mashed potato was oh-so-amazing! Although its just a side dish, it was the best mashed potato we have tried in our lives. Just melt in your mouth kind of goodness.

Dessert
1) Antoinette

Address: Palais Renaissance, #B1-08/09/10C, 390 Orchard Road, Singapore 238871
Nearest MRT: Orchard (on the red line)
Price: SGD 15 ++ (considering you are there for just desserts)

Why I love it: While the Palais Renaissance outlet makes you feel like you are in a garden, the Mandarin Orchard branch recreates a European cafe atmosphere.  Plus, their desserts are really great for people like me who has sweet-tooth. Try the nutella based ice-cream with crepes! Nutella + ice-cream + crepe = what can go wrong? Honestly :D

2) Strangers' Reunion

Address: 37 Kampong Bahru Road, Singapore 169356
Nearest MRT: Outram Park (on the green line & purple line)
Price: SGD 10 ++ (considering you are there for just desserts)

Why I love it: When I first stumbled across this hidden gem back in 2012, it was the perfect place to chill with desserts after dinner. So so cozy.  By now, it has become so popular that they even had to move to a bigger place next door. It has become a bit too crowded. But their waffle with yogurt and fruits was the BEST I have ever had. Waffle was crispy while yogurt strives the perfect balance of sweet and sour taste.

Ice-Cream
1) Udders

Address: My Village Mall, #01-11, 1 Maju Ave, Singapore 556679
Nearest MRT: Serangoon (on the purple line & yellow line) (Its not within walking distance from any MRT station)
Price: SGD 4 ++
Remark: Other milking outlets are at Upper Thomson, Siglap, Novena & Lorong Kilat.

Why I love it:  Especially 'strawberry fields' & 'D24'. I have had my fair share of ice-creams and I have concluded that not everyone can make a great durian ice-cream. However, Udders has done a great job! I felt like I was eating frozen actual durian which melt in my mouth. The taste wasn't too sweet or too artificial. It was just nice. Same thing with 'strawberry fields'. Udders managed to maintain the authentic taste of strawberries without being overly sweet, like most ice-cream tend to be.

2) Salted Caramel

Address: 246F Upper Thomson Road, Singapore 574370
Nearest MRT: Marymount (on the yellow line)
Price: SGD 4 ++
Remark: Only available on weekend & public holidays, from 12:00 to 14:30

Why I love it: Just try salted caramel flavor. Need I say more?

Bar
1) Manhattan Bar

Address: Regent Hotel, Level 2, 1 Cuscaden Road, Singapore 249715
Nearest MRT: Orchard (on the red line)
Price: SGD 25 ++

Why I love it: So classy and so elegant! Even the glasses they use are so beautiful.  Plus, I'm in my late twenties - at a age when I find loud bars to be irritating. I just wanna be at someplace relaxing, to catch up with a group of friends while enjoying some booze. Of course, the cocktails taste great - not too strong, not too sweet. Plus, their menu is pretty interesting, with a short history on speakeasy bars in New York!

2) IndoChine Rooftop Bar

Address: Supertree Grove, 18 Marina Gardens Drive, Singapore 018953
Nearest MRT: Bayfront (on the yellow line & blue downtown line)
Price: SGD 20 ++
Remark: Weather

Why I love it: Be on cloud nine at 50-meters high on top of the tallest SuperTree! With unobstructed view of Singapore's iconic skyline, backdrop of a magnificent MBS, and constant breeze, this is a perfect place to be, after a dinner date with your special someone.
